Steve DeBolt’s expertise, as well as passion and love for the Morgan Horse is readily evident when you see him working with the many stallions, mares and babies on the farm. Pair this with the amazing fact that he can tell you the name of any of the approximately 300 horses in residence and you have the makings of one of the top Morgan Breeding Managers in the country.
Having worked with horses since his early teenage years, Steve DeBolt came highly recommended to Kohler Stables. Hired as an assistant trainer in 1991, he also began working with master breeder, Tom Caisse, expanding his already extensive knowledge in the breeding area. In 1995 he became the Broodmare Manager and was promoted to Breeding Manager in 1996.
Since that time Steve has worked hard to keep Kohler’s breeding program on the cutting edge of the industry. He communicates on a regular basis with some of the industry’s top reproductive veterinarians and other genetic experts; and is always searching for innovations that might be useful in the Kohler breeding program. This on-going search for new techniques and methods combined with his “detail oriented” work ethic is one of the main reasons why Kohler Stables remains as one of the leaders in the Morgan breeding industry today.
